My Cadre is a personal memoir about a nurse practitioner’s spiritual journey as she transitioned from traditional, Western based medicine to her private holistic nursing practice. Written in a rare and authentic voice, the author tells of her passion to become a spiritual healer. Through her diligent training in yoga and meditation she learned and practiced kundalini-based tantric meditation methods that opened her to a dimensional realm not of this world. During her meditations she met and experienced healing techniques with Masters, Angels, Guides and the Great Mother that later manifested in her healing room. The author carefully weaves the story of how she became the medium and point of energetic transfer between the higher dimensional Beings of Light, her Cadre, whom she met in her meditations and worked side by side with in her healing room, and their combined ministrations to the beloved clients who came into her healing room. This remarkable and fascinating story encourages us to remember the importance of developing intuitive awareness as a tool for spiritual growth, and invites readers to see how a commitment to deep meditative practices can unlock the door to spiritual awakening.

An underemployed, skateboarding party animal, Colby Buzzell traded a dead-end future for the army—and ended up as a machine gunner in Iraq. To make sense of the absurd and frightening events surrounding him, he started writing a blog about the war—and how it differed from the government’s official version. But as his blog’s popularity grew, Buzzell became the embedded reporter the Army couldn’t control—despite its often hilarious efforts to do so. The result is an extraordinary narrative, rich with unforgettable scenes: the Iraqi woman crying uncontrollably during a raid on her home; the soldier too afraid to fight; the troops chain-smoking in a guard tower and counting tracer rounds; the first, fierce firefight against the “men in black.” Drawing comparisons to everything from Charles Bukowski to Catch-22, My War depicts a generation caught in a complicated and dangerous world—and marks the debut of a raw, remarkable new voice.

“A mesmerizing read.... A literary work of high distinction.” —William Grimes, New York Times This “gripping and poignant memoir” (New York Times Book Review) draws us into the intersections of everyday life and Communist power from the first days of “Liberation” in 1949 through the post-Mao era. The son of a professional family, Kang Zhengguo is a free spirit, drawn to literature. In Mao’s China, these innocuous circumstances expose him at age twenty to a fierce struggle session, expulsion from university, and a four-year term of hard labor. So begins his long stay in the prison-camp system. He finally escapes the Chinese gulag by forfeiting his identity: at age twenty-eight he is adopted by an aging bachelor in a peasant village, which enables him to start a new life.

I grew up during the times leading up to and during the Second World War. We were concerned with preparation for air raids, damage control and rescue. The science subjects were slanted in this direction also. I may have had a special inclination toward this field. Various military subjects, compulsory at college, enhanced my interest. Then after I got my engineering degree my employment at Nitrokémia RT., the explosives manufacturer, and under the leadership of Dr. László Demény launched my professional career. After the war, as a chemical engineer I was involved with the most explosive chemicals as industrial intermediates, like acetylene and ethylene oxide. The processes to make those involved oxidation, where explosive limits of the raw materials and their intermediates were a significant consideration. In turn, this lead to the study of thermal runaways and ignition processes.
